Four year old Fred Redmond Jr. was lucky enough to have his dad build him a scaled down kart (32 in. wheelbase and 41 in. overall length). Frame was mild steel tubing and the throttle was pre-set and tied to a unique drive system: it controlled a roller which in turn tightened the main drive belt via a pivot control. Engine was a 4-cycle Briggs&Stratton 7/8 HP from a '40 vintage washing machine!
